Students are to attend all classes and are to report to class on time. If an absence is unavoidable, please call or email the Faith Formation Office to report the absence.
● If your child is absent, parents are to consult the class syllabus provided to each student and complete the assigned chapter (or chapters) at home. The chapter review test at the end of each chapter must be completed and submitted to the catechist when your child returns to class.
● Students are allowed no more than three absences per school year. After three absences, students should report to class during an alternate session to make up for class time missed in addition to completing their assigned chapter at home.
● There is a $20.00 charge to replace lost textbooks.
Parents are asked not to take students from class before dismissal time. Requests for early dismissal must be made through the Faith Formation director. Early dismissals will not be permitted unless an “Early Dismissal” slip is obtained from the Faith Formation office and presented to the catechist at the beginning of class.
Parents are asked to wait for their children in the church hall lobby until the dismissal bell rings. Parents are asked to pick up students in grades PreK – 3 at their classroom door.
Disruptive classroom behavior will not be tolerated. Parents will be contacted by email or telephone if a student is sent to the office for disruptive behavior. Repeated behavioral issues will result in a meeting with a member of the clergy and the Director of Faith Formation to determine the best course of action in a given situation.
● Cell phones, I-Pads, electronic games and all other personal electronics should not be in use during class time. Catechists hold the right to collect cell phones at the beginning of class time or to confiscate phones/ electronic items for the duration of class time if this policy is abused.
If it is necessary to cancel Faith Formation classes, cancellation notices will be posted on:
● The parish website home page.
● KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI (including their websites, if available.)
- Parents will also be informed of cancellations through email and phone call (through the Parish one-call system.)
○ Decisions regarding cancellation are not finalized until 1:00 p.m. on weekdays. Please do not call the office before 1:00 p.m. Parental judgment concerning road conditions in your neighborhood should be a deciding factor in all cases.
